Your Vote: Graham County Voter Guide 2024

BPR News

The majority of local races in Graham County are contested with Republican, Unaffiliated and Democratic candidates.

BPR reached out to all candidates on the state candidate list to fill out a short survey about priorities. If you are a candidate and would like to fill out the survey now, please reach out to news@bpr.org.

Graham County Board of Commissioners 

Thomas Keith Jr. Menard 

Unaffiliated 

Thomas Menard is listed as working for Graham County’s Building Inspection department. He does not have an online campaign site or social media presence. Menard did not respond to inquiries to fill out BPR’s survey.

Connie Orr 

Republican Party

Incumbent Connie Orr is a longtime commissioner who serves on the Southwestern Commission Board as chair. Meggan Bree Smith

Meggan Smith is a part-time primary-care provider at the Graham County Health Department, Graham County Star reported. Lynn Cody  

Republican Party 

Incumbent Lynn Cody was elected in 2022. He lives in Stecoah and is the finance officer for Fontana Regional Library, according to LinkedIn. He does not have a campaign website and is not active on social media. Cody did not respond to inquiries to fill out BPR’s survey.

Machelle Crisp

Democratic Party 

Crisp says she has worked in the Graham County Finance Department for almost 20 years. On her social media, she shares that the financial health of the county is a top priority for her while also discussing past issues with the county. Crisp did not respond to inquiries to fill out BPR’s survey.

Roger Edward Howell 

 Republican Party 

Known as “Eddie,” Howell lives in Robbinsville and is assistant coach for the Robbinsville High School Girls Basketball team. Howell does not have a campaign website and is not active on social media. Howell did not respond to inquiries to fill out BPR’s survey.

Douglas Rodney Nelson 

Republican Party  

Incumbent Rodney Nelson is a retired Graham County Middle School Teacher and Coach. He began his tenure on the Board of Education in 2008. His goal as a Board member is to take care of students and staff, according to the school board website. Nelson does not have a campaign website and is not active on social media. Corey Berton Snider
