Your Vote: U.S. House District 11

North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District stretches across the 15 westernmost counties in the state.

For much of the state’s history it was a competitive district, held by conservative Democrats like Heath Shuler. Redistricting turned the 11th into a staunchly GOP stronghold that elected Mark Meadows, former Chief of Staff for former President Donald Trump and Madison Cawthorn, a political rookie with far right views.

Current incumbent Republican Chuck Edwards won the seat from Cawthorn in the 2022 primary by just 1.5% before defeating Democratic candidate Jasmine Beach-Ferrara by about 10% in the general election.

Edwards handily won his primary this year against Clay County’s Christian Reagan on a drumbeat of economic and immigration issues.

Now he will face off against another Buncombe County Democrat, Caleb Rudow.

Chuck Edwards

Republican Party

Edwards campaign website shows that his priorities are “closing” the border, cutting spending and “family values.”

Edwards recently spoke to BPR to dispel rumors that FEMA has not been bringing aid to Asheville but he has not commented on former President Trump and other federal Republicans' continued use of this disinformation.

Here is his campaign website. Edwards did not respond to inquiries to fill out BPR’s survey.
