Duncan Fowler
Broadcast Systems ManagerDuncan Fowler joined Blue Ridge Public Radio in April of 2016. He is a member of the Tech team that helps keep Blue Ridge Public Radio on the air.
Duncan grew up in rural Vermont, listening to Vermont Public Radio from a young age. He attended Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, and graduated with a B.S. in Communication & Media. Starting his position at the station combined several so far separate interests: computer/technology, radio operation, and live audio production. His interest in computers as well as radio operation can be traced back to his father. After being set down in front of an old DOS computer to hammer away at as a baby he was hooked. Similarly with radio operation, Duncan is a licensed Ham operator, again taking after his father.
Duncan’s live sound interest started in high school but quickly grew in college where he was a member of the Clarkson Union Board (CUB) for the entirety of his time there. This group brought talent in for weekly entertainment of the student body. This ranged from bands to hypnotists, comedians, variety acts, and movies shown on the university’s common with an inflatable screen. They also set up and operated all the sound and lighting equipment for these events.
While not at work Duncan enjoys large format and analog photography, exploring the overwhelming number of trails in the area, and slowly checking out each brewery in town.
