(4/30 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 969,752 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 4,216 cases from Wednesday. 1,101 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 16 from Wednesday.  12,651 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 32 from Wednesday.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 50,145 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 855 deaths. That's an increase of 81 confirmed cases and 2 deaths from Wednesday.

(4/29 9:00 a.m.)  Buncombe County will now offer walk-in vaccinations at its clinic at AB Tech.  Residents no longer need appointments to get a shot at the clinic, though they can still set one if they want.  The clinic at AB Tech is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 to 4.  All residents ages 16 and older are eligible to receive free Pfizer vaccines.  For more info, go to BuncombeReady.org.

(4/28 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 965,536 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 1,765 cases from the day before. 1,117 are currently hospitalized statewide, an increase of 14 from the day before.  12,619 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 36 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 50,066 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 853 deaths. That's an increase of 91 confirmed cases and 3 deaths from the day before.

(4/27 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 963,771 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 1,148 cases from the day before. 1,103 are currently hospitalized statewide, an increase of 36 from the day before.  12,583 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 23 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 49,975 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 850 deaths. That's an increase of 57 confirmed cases and 3 deaths from the day before.

(4/27 9:30 a.m.)  Western Carolina University says it will resume administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at its on-campus clinic on Saturday.  “In light of recent recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we will resume administration of the Janssen vaccine,” said Cortnee Lingerfelt, director of WCU's regional COVID-19 vaccine clinic in a statement.  The Pfizer vaccine, which requires two doses, will be given at the clinic April 28th and 29th, while the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which only requires one shot, will be given on May 1st and 3rd.  To set an appointment, go to vaccine.wcu.edu.

(4/26 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 962,623 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 5,691 cases from Friday. 1,067 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 82 from Friday.  12,560 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 37 from Friday.  In the 13 North Carolina Counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 49,918 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 847 deaths. That's an increase of 320 confirmed cases and 2 deaths from Friday.
