2020 WNC Early Voting Guide: Locations, Dates, & Times

Pexels

Early voting in North Carolina runs from Thursday October 15th to Saturday October 31st ahead of the November 3rd general election.

Those who are already registered to vote can do so during the early voting period.  Those who are not registered but are eligible to vote will only be able to cast a ballot during the early voting period using same day voter registration.  To register using same day registration, a person must go to an early voting location in the county they live in, and provide a form of identification verifying their name and current address.  Accepted identification includes -

  • North Carolina driver’s license
  • Other photo identification issued by a government agency. Any government-issued photo ID is acceptable, provided that the card includes the voter's current name and address.
  • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document showing the voter’s name and address.
  • A current college/university photo identification card paired with proof of campus habitation.

Early voters can cast a ballot at any location in the county where they reside.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be some new safeguards in effect this year to keep both voters and poll workers safe.  Those may vary county to county, but no voter can be turned away from voting due to pandemic safeguards.  All voters however are urged to wear masks and keep six feet of distance from others when standing in line.  Below is a list of early voting locations in the 14 westernmost counties of North Carolina, and the dates and hours they are operating.
