Join us Friday @2 for live jazz from our studios as we host pianist Bill Bares and trombonist Rick Simerly. These two musicians will perform soon at White Horse Black Mountain as part of the monthly series called “Take Two,” but Friday afternoon they’ll play just for us.
Dr. William Bares teaches Jazz at UNC-A. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College, a Masters degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Miami, and a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from Harvard University, where he studied with Ingrid Monson, the Quincy Jones Professor of African American Music.
Rick Simerly is a jazz trombonist and currently Associate Professor of Music at Milligan College in Tennessee. He has been described by David Baker as “…one of the most exciting and consistently creative trombonists in jazz today.”
That’s Bill Bares and Rick Simerly on the next Friday @ 2. Join us.
