BPR's Summer Raffle 2025 Official Rules & Regulations

Here's what you need to know to enter the BPR Summer Car Raffle.

Western North Carolina Public Radio, Inc., d/b/a Blue Ridge Public Radio, Inc. (BPR), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of North Carolina. BPR conducts this raffle to generate operating funds in support of its public service mission.

By purchasing a ticket, you agree to the following:

Raffle Overview

Purchase one or more tickets during BPR’s Summer Raffle to be entered to win:

  • Grand Prize: A 2025 Subaru Forester Premium Hybrid from Fred Anderson Subaru in the color Ice Silver Metallic.  Approximate MSRP: $38,729.00. 
  • Early Bird Prize: Round-trip airfare for two to the destination of your choice, including checked bags, premium seat selection, and complimentary parking, courtesy of Asheville Regional Airport. Valued at $2,000.00. 

The cost to purchase a single entry (“ticket”) is $125 USD. Raffle entries are not tax deductible. A maximum of 1,500 tickets will be sold. Odds of winning depend on the number of tickets sold.

Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to enter. 
  • Current employees of BPR and immediate family members residing in the same household are not eligible. 
  • Current members of the BPR Board of Directors are not eligible. 
  • Void where prohibited. 

Raffle Timeline

  • Raffle Opens: July 17, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. ET 
  • Early Bird Deadline: August 3, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET 
  • Raffle Closes: August 17, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET 
  • Early Bird Drawing: August 6, 2025 
  • Grand Prize Drawing: August 20, 2025 

How to Enter
Tickets may be purchased in one of three ways:

  1. Online: Visit bpr.org to complete the entry form and pay via credit card or bank draft. 
  2. By Phone: Call BPR at 828-210-4810. Phone sales close at 11:59 p.m. on August 17, 2025. 
  3. By Mail: Mail a completed entry form and payment to:

Mail-in entries must be received by 5 p.m. on August 18, 2025. Entry forms are available for download at bpr.org. Any ticket purchases received after this date and time will be returned to the purchaser and will not be entered into the drawing.

All entries become the property of BPR and are non-refundable.

Selection and Notification
Winners will be selected at random and are notified by phone and email. If a winner does not respond within 10 days, is found to be ineligible, or if contact information is invalid, an alternate winner will be selected. Drawings are conducted using a random number generator to ensure that each participant has an equal chance of winning.

Prize Acceptance and Delivery

  • Vehicle will be delivered by Fred Anderson Subaru. 
  • Winner must provide valid government-issued ID and complete an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release. 
  • Prize must be accepted as awarded, is non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed for cash. 
  • Winner must take possession of the vehicle within 30 days of notification unless otherwise arranged.
  • The winner is responsible for all state/local taxes, delivery costs, dealer fees, vehicle registration, title, licensing, insurance, and any options he or she may choose above the vehicle's manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) greater than stated herein.  

Tax Obligations

  • Winnings are taxable and subject to federal tax withholding. Federal law requires BPR to collect and remit 25% of the prize value (minus the ticket price) in federal withholding taxes. 
  • Winner must remit this amount via certified check to BPR before taking possession of the vehicle. 
  • BPR will file IRS Form W-2G and report the prize value as income. 
  • Winner must provide a Social Security Number for tax reporting only.
