AnnouncerCharlie Smith is a radio announcer at BPR. They began their journey with the station as an intern in 2022 and transitioned to a full-time announcer role in February 2023.
Originally from Raleigh, Charlie moved to Asheville to attend UNC Asheville, where they quickly fell in love with the vibrant culture and mountains. After earning a BA in English with a concentration in creative writing, they decided to make Asheville their home. Charlie has a deep passion for creative storytelling, which they explore through writing, reading, and playing tabletop roleplaying games.

A court found North Carolina law violated the Federal Voting Rights Act in limiting who could assist people with disabilities in casting their ballots to family or a legal guardian.
