(6/11 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 1,007,698 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 425 cases from the day before.  535 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 13 from the day before.  13,265 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 19 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 52,225 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 896 deaths. That's an increase of 17 cases and 0 deaths from the day before.

(6/10 5 p.m.) Governor Roy Cooper is banking on $1 million cash drawings and college scholarships as a way to  boost  North Carolina’s lagging COVID vaccination rate. The governor announced the vaccine incentive plan during Thursday’s COVID briefing.   “Regardless of who wins, there is no way to lose -  a chance at a million dollars or a college scholarship is pretty good motivation," says Cooper.   "But even if your name isn’t drawn, the worst you’ll do is get strong protection from a deadly virus."  Four vaccinated North Carolinians 18 and older will win $1 million each and four North Carolinians ages 12 to 17 will win tuition for post-secondary education.  The $4 Million Summer Cash and Summer Cash 4 College Drawings will run from June 23 through Aug. 4.   Read the Executive Order 219.  Read a Frequently Asked Questions.   Read the Official Rules.

(6/10 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 1,007,273 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 464 cases from the day before.  548 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 6 from the day before.  13,246 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 16 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 52,208 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 896 deaths. That's an increase of 9 cases and 1 death from the day before.

(6/9 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 1,006,809 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 544 cases from the day before.  554 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 14 from the day before.  13,230 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 18 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 51,999 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 895 deaths. That's an increase of 33 cases and 1 death from the day before.

(6/8 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 1,006,265 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 299 cases from the day before.  568 are currently hospitalized statewide, an increase of 22 from the day before.  13,212 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 13 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 51,966 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 894 deaths. That's an increase of 10 cases and 5 deaths from the day before.

(6/7 12:30 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 1,005,966 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 1,287 cases from Friday.  546 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 67 from Friday.  13,199 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 48 from Friday.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 51,956 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 889 deaths. That's an increase of 59 cases and 0 deaths from Friday.
