(5/7 3 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 980,498 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 1,932 cases from the day before. 1,006 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 25 from the day before.  12,780 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 42 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 50,912 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 860 deaths. That's an increase of 81 cases and 16 additional deaths from the day before.

(5/6 5:30 p.m.)  Macon County Public Health will be pre-registering children aged 12 to 15 for the COVID-19 vaccination should their parents wish for them to be vaccinated. The FDA and CDC are expected to authorize the emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine for that age group next week.

There aren’t any Pfizer clinics currently planned in Macon County but parents who register their children will be notified once appointments for the Pfizer vaccine become available.  

(5/6 3:00 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 978,566 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 1,798 cases from the day before. 1,031 are currently hospitalized statewide, an increase of 17 from the day before.  12,738 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 21 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 50,831 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 860 deaths. That's an increase of 81 cases and no additional deaths from the day before.

(5/5 1:00 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 976,768 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 1,468 cases from the day before. 1,000 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 50 from the day before.  12,721 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 21 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 50,750 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 860 deaths. That's an increase of 99 cases and 1 death from the day before.

(5/4 1:00 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 975,300 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 981 cases from the day before. 1,050 are currently hospitalized statewide, an increase of 43 from the day before.  12,700 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 9 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 50,651 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 859 deaths. That's an increase of 35  cases and 2 deaths from the day before.

(5/3 1:00 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 974,319 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 4,567 cases from Friday. 1,007 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 94 from Friday.  12,691 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 40 from Friday.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 50,616 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 857 deaths. That's an increase of 471 confirmed cases and 2 deaths from Friday.
