BPR invites all who count on the station’s on air and digital news, music, and programming to support it now during the Spring Fund Drive, Monday, March 27 through midnight Friday, March 31.
The goal is to raise $275,000 – help the station meet this goal successfully today.
Monday, March 27: Congratulations to BPR Sustainer Henry Gregg of Hendersonville, winner of a pair of tickets to the live storytelling event The Asheville Moth GrandSLAM on April 6th, and a $100 gift card to Chestnut Restaurant. No contribution was necessary to enter the drawing and current Sustainers were automatically entered. See prize drawing rules for full details.
The station holds these fund drives to bring attention to how public radio works. BPR is independent -- not owned by another institution -- and pays more than $500,000 annually for NPR and other distributors’ programs. While free to access, there are significant costs to the station’s operations.
The majority of BPR’s funding comes from community support - - individuals and businesses who believe in the station’s mission and public service. It takes all of us to keep this service strong for 14 counties and the Qualla Boundary.
The most popular way to support BPR is to become a Sustainer. With monthly drafts of $5 or more per month taken out of your bank account or credit card, it’s economical and provides a steady, reliable stream of revenue for the station.
