WCQS Board of Directors Names Barbara Sayer Interim CEO, Begins Executive Search

The Board of Directors of Western North Carolina Public Radio, Inc. / WCQS named WCQS Program Director Barbara Sayer as Interim President and CEO, following the resignation of WCQS President and CEO Jody Evans. Evans’ last day at WCQS is December 5.

WNCPR Board Chair Chuck Cloninger is pleased with Sayer’s appointment, “Barbara Sayer has been with the station since its roots at UNCA. She has been part of the leadership team for more than thirty years. She has guided the station through many transitions and we are fortunate to have her leadership now. This is an exciting time in public radio and in the station’s evolution. Barbara’s history with the station and her insight into emerging platforms and trends within public media will serve the station well during the interim and in a seamless transition.”

The WNCPR Board of Directors also voted to hire Livingston Associates as the search firm for the next CEO. Livingston Associates is the leader in executive searches for the Public Media industry. A national search will begin in December. Board chair Chuck Cloninger has every confidence in the process.

“Tom Livingston led WCQS through this process five years ago to great success. Livingston Associates is renowned for guiding stations through the identification of dynamic professionals in the industry to find the right leaders for their teams. The future of WCQS is very bright and we are committed to finding the best possible leader to keep WCQS a vibrant and relevant resource for the region.”
