WCQS President and CEO Steps Down to Lead PRPD

Jody Evans has resigned as president and CEO of Western North Carolina Public Radio, Inc./WCQS and has accepted the position of President and CEO of the Public Radio Program Directors Association (PRPD). The announcement was made November 3 by WCQS Board Chair Chuck Cloninger "We appreciate Jody’s efforts while at WCQS and wish her well in her new endeavor.”

In her capacity as President and CEO of PRPD, Evans will play a critical role in leading and building relationships for PRPD, as well as working with the organization’s boards and committees. “This position is part ambassador and part hand-on administrator, which appeals to me,” Evans said. “It is a once-in-a-career opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.”

Evans acknowledges that her move to PRPD comes at an exciting time. “Public radio is constantly exploring ways to deliver programming across the diverse existing and emerging media platforms and integrate radio with digital and mobile content. I look forward to helping WCQS and public radio stations across the nation succeed in what for all of us is a rapidly changing media landscape.”

Evans’ last day at WCQS is December 5, 2014.  WCQS will begin a national search in the near future.

Michelle Keenan was the Associate Director of Development at Blue Ridge Public Radio. She began volunteering for the station in 1996 and has been a full-time staff member since 1998.
