In a note to staff Vice President, New Platform Partnerships, Joel Sucherman announced the following staffing update:
Colleagues –
I am thrilled to introduce Leda Marritz as Program Manager for the NPR+ podcast subscription service. Leda comes to NPR from Apple, where she spent four years as part of the Apple Podcasts editorial team. She started her career at Apple looking after international markets and later transitioned to managing campaigns and planning for the US team, overseeing brand projects like 'Spotlight' and 'Listen With', as well as major editorial initiatives such as election programming, a relaunch of the Kids & Family category page, and the annual 'Best Of' promotion.
Prior to Apple she worked at a startup called Pop Up Archive, a company that was on NPR's radar due to its unique value proposition at the time, developing tools to make audio searchable.
Leda will work closely with colleagues across the organization in Digital Media, Content Operations, Programming, News, and Member Partnerships on the growth and success of the NPR+ subscription service – both as a revenue stream for NPR and a path to station membership. Her role sits in the Audience Growth division and will report to me.
Leda has a degree from Brown University in Comparative Literature. In her spare time, she likes to read engrossing books ('Pachinko'), watch movies and TV (a recent surprise favorite was 'Midnight Mass'), and catch up with long-distance friends by voice memo. She's not ready to pick a side on whether Wordle tweets are innocuous or should be banned. Leda lives in San Francisco with her husband and her daughter. She will remain on the West Coast, but we'll look for opportunities to bring her to DC to meet everyone in person when the time is right.
Today is Leda's first day. Please join me in welcoming her to the NPR family!
Thanks,
Joel
