State often reduces fines for companies when NC workers die on the job
According to The Charlotte Observer, at least six construction workers died on the job last year in Charlotte, the most that has occurred in about a decade and a half. The paper also found that in the last two years, the state reduced the fines companies face when their workers die more than 40% of the time.
