Garcia brings two decades of editorial and audio engineering experience to his new role at Blue Ridge Public Radio.

Eddie Garcia

News Director

Eddie Garcia is the News Director at BPR. His career in public radio started with an audio engineering internship at WFDD in Winston-Salem, N.C., in May of 2007. He was then hired to continue doing audio and operations work for the station and went on to edit and co-host the hour-long weekly program Triad Arts Weekend.

Eddie then shifted into the news department, where he covered housing, law enforcement and culture stories.

After winning PMJA and RTDNA Murrow awards for investigative work, he became the station’s managing editor, then news director, shaping daily coverage to serve the station’s 32-county listening area.

He joined Blue Ridge Public Radio as News Director in April 2026.

When he is not working with the team, you can find Eddie watching movies with his family or working on music projects.
