Dogwood Health Trust Announces Tri-County Community College President As Newest Board Member

Dr. Donna Tipton-Rogers became the first woman to serve as president of Tri-County Community College in 2007.

Dogwood Health Trust has announced another member of their board of directors. 

The non-profit health foundation that was formed when Mission Health sold to for-profit HCA Health announced that Dr. Donna Tipton-Rogers  will join the board. 

A Cherokee County native and graduate of Murphy High School, Tipton-Rogers became the first woman to serve as president of Tri-County Community College in 2007. 

Now there are 15 members of the Dogwood Health Trust Board including: John R. Ball, MD, JD (Buncombe County), Michell Hicks, CPA (Qualla Boundary), Sam Lupas (Jackson County), George Renfro (Buncombe County), Robert C. Roberts (Buncombe County), Wyatt S. Stevens, JD (Buncombe County) and Martha Tyner (Yancey County), Jackie Godlock(Rutherford County), Vivian Bolanos (Henderson County), Jacquelyn “Jackie” Shropshire Simms (Buncombe County) and Dawna Goode-Ledbetter(McDowell County) and Sarah Thompson (Jackson County).  As well as, Vice Chair Jack Cecil and Chair Janice Brumit, both Buncombe County. 

The Foundation is tasked with distributing the profits of the $1.5 billion dollar sale of Mission Health to HCA.  As part of his stipulations for the sale, North Carolina attorney general Josh Stein wanted increased diversity on Dogwood’s board of directors. 

 Board chair Janice Brumit says that the organization will hire a CEO in early August and that they hope to open up grant applications in fall 2020.
