Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested at least two individuals in Henderson County Wed. morning.

ICE says 19-year-old Alexis Queretaro Alvarez was arrested on previous felony charges. A second person with Alvarez during the arrest was also taken into custody. BPR has yet to identify that individual.

Immigrant advocacy organizations in Buncombe and Henderson Counties posted alerts on social media, following the arrest.

Compañeros Inmigrantes de las Montañas en Acción, or CIMA, is urging followers not to open their car doors or get out of a vehicle, if stopped by ICE.

In an email statement, ICE regional spokesperson Bryan Cox says the agency does not randomly arrest individuals.

"The agency focuses first and foremost on criminal offenders and other public safety threats and only makes targeted arrests," Bryan Cox said.
