BPR Announces Program Lineup Changes

This July, listeners of Blue Ridge Public Radio will hear some new programming - while a public radio staple is moving to a new time in our lineup.

Starting July 9th, Marketplace will be moving up 30 minutes on our schedule.  Listeners can get their nightly fix of business news at 6 p.m. every weekday evening on BPR Classic and BPR News.  Taking the 6:30 slot each weekday evening on both our channels is The Daily, a partnership between The New York Times and American Public Media.  The 30-minute program is hosted Michael Barbaro and powered by The New York Times' newsroom.  The Daily brings listeners the biggest stories of our time, told by the best journalists in the world. The Daily focuses on just one or two stories each weekday, offering listeners a 30-minute, deep, textured portrait of the characters and human stakes driving the news.

Starting July 7th, Hidden Brain will air every Saturday afternoon at 1 on both BPR Classic and BPR News.  Host Shankar Vedantam is a beloved contributor to Morning Edition and All Things Considered, as well as a popular podcast host; now we’re able to hear Shankar go deeper on intriguing topics. Using science and storytelling, Hidden Brain helps curious people understand the world, current events and themselves.

Also starting July 7th, we will bring you an encore broadcast of It's Been a Minute with Sam Sanders every Saturday evening at 8 on BPR News.  The show also airs every Saturday morning at 10 on both BPR Classic and BPR News.

Starting July 8th, Latino USA will air evening Sunday evening at 6 on BPR News.  Hosted by the award-winning journalist, news anchor and author Maria Hinojosa, Latino USA specializes in news, culture and storytelling that creates a space where Latino Americans hear their experiences reflected, and where non-Latinos can join the conversations happening in Latino communities. Hinojosa recently visited Asheville, speaking to The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina's 'Power of the Purse Luncheon'.

Please note - Hidden Brain takes the time slot previously held by Marketplace Weekend. Marketplace Weekend has cease production. Sam Sanders' It's Been A Minute and Latino USA take the time slots previously held by the broadcasts of The Big Listen, which has also ceased production.
