Fans of the Carolina Panthers will watch their team in the Wildcard round of the NFL playoffs this Sunday in New Orleans. Soon those fans will wait to see what happens with the franchise. Jerry Richardson, the only owner the Panthers have ever known, will sell the team this off-season. The 81-year-old agreed to sell the team last month, after allegations of workplace harassment and misconduct were detailed in a report by Sports Illustrated.

Who will buy the Panthers? Could that person, or group, move the team? And, in an era of publicly-financed stadiums, is Bank of America Stadium destined to be a venue of the past? Jeff Tiberii first started posing questions to strangers after dinner at La Cantina Italiana, in Massachusetts, when he was two-years-old. Jeff grew up in Wayland, Ma., an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, and took summer vacations to Acadia National Park (ME) with his family. He graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, and moved to North Carolina in 2006. His experience with NPR member stations WAER (Syracuse), WFDD (Winston-Salem) and now WUNC, dates back 15 years.
