Donald Trump campaigned in North Carolina Friday, a state where Hillary Clinton leads but one Trump badly needs in order to win the election. NPR's Sarah McCammon reported for All Things Considered.

Jeremy Loeb - When Donald Trump visited downtown Asheville in September, protesters clashed with supporters and there were some ugly incidents. This time his rally was held outside of Asheville, at the Western North Carolina Ag Center in Fletcher. There were few, if any, protesters. There weren’t any interruptions. The thousands of supporters were loud and enthusiastic. Even a 45 minute late start didn’t dampen their enthusiasm. But once he took the stage, Trump was his usual self, calling his opponent Hillary Clinton corrupt and whipping the crowd up into their usual refrain of "lock her up." He responded by telling the audience he'll have "lots of options" to deal with Clinton if he wins. Trump spent about as much time on President Obama as he did on Clinton. "We have a bunch of babies running our country, folks. We have a bunch of losers. They're losers. They're babies." Hillary Clinton will be in North Carolina Sunday for get out the vote events in Charlotte and Raleigh.
