Former President Makes Campaign Stop in Asheville

David Hurand
Former President Bill Clinton

A standing room only crowd  of over 700 was on hand at the old Boys Gym at Asheville High School to hear President Bill Clinton urge them to support his wife and former first lady Hillary Clinton for President.  Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer and State House member Susan Fisher opened the evening with speeches aimed at firing up the crowd of  enthusiastic Democrats.  State Senator Terry Van Duyn introduced the featured speaker.  Clinton spoke for nearly an hour and never mentioned his wife's opponent, Senator Bernie Sanders, nor did he name any of the Republican candidates running for President.

Here are his remarks in full and comments from people standing in line waiting to get in.

Jean and Fred Macon, Rebekah Beneteau, and Harry Pierson were standing in line waiting to get in to the Old Boys Gym at Asheville.  All were there to hear the former President speak on behalf of the former First Lady and Secretary of State who is now a candidate for President.
