An attorney with the Southern Environmental Law Center says the announced settlement represents another back room deal between the nations' largest utility and the State of North Carolina. The $7 million settlement reached today (9/29) reduces a fine of $25.1 million dollars and resolves all ground-water contamination issues at the closed Sutton Power Plant in Wilmington as well as 13 other active and closed power  plants.  D.J. Gerken is a Senior Attorney with the Southern Environmental Law Center.  He spoke with David Hurand.
