The most-listened to radio station in the exciting Asheville, NC market, Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR) is the NPR affiliate for the region, providing public media service through its digital platforms and two radio stations– BPR News and BPR Classic – across a 13-county region in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Summary: Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR) is seeking an Executive Coordinator, responsible for coordinating and supporting the CEO/General Manager, organizing key administrative office functions to ensure efficient operations and serving as a liaison to coordinate and manage all meetings for the Board of Directors and its related Committees.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the CEO/General Manager and serve as liaison to the Board of Directors and related Committees.
  • Administer correspondence, manage incoming calls, travel and national board commitments.
  • Prioritize phone messages, emails and mail to include supporting calendar.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality of information relative to personnel, legal, fiscal, and other key administrative concerns.
  • Act as the official liaison with Board of Directors during scheduled and ad hoc meetings to include taking minutes and maintaining roster for Secretary of the Board of Directors.
  • Communicates and corresponds with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist as administration liaison to Human Resources department.
  • Assists business office:  

    • Scan and distribute invoices, documents, deposits, etc. as needed to ensure accurate andsafe financial management.
    • Accounts Receivable: record, verify and post payments received by the station for business sponsorship against outstanding invoices.
    • Use AR software to generate and send monthly invoices and statements.
  • Coordinate all company-wide functions, including meetings and events. Maintain company files (paper and digital) in a highly organized and secure fashion.
  • Administer parking program for employees and maintain office supplies.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support including sorting incoming and outgoing mail (non-fundraising), data entry, scanning, copying, and filing.  
  • Provide administrative support to ensure compliance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and other government and industry regulations pertinent to the station, including those mandated by the Corporation of Public Broadcasting (CPB).
  • Provide administrative assistance to the station as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:

  • Requires an excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to plan, organize and integrate priorities and deadlines independently.  
  • Must be able to understand the importance of working with Board Members and Board Committees.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
  • Ability to provide high level, priority management and calendar management support to executive management.  
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent ability to build relationships with all staff, volunteers, and vendors/suppliers.
  • Ability to discreetly handle sensitive and high-level confidential information.  

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred;
  • Executive Assistant Certification preferred;
  • Three to five years' experience as an Executive Assistant and/or administrative level.

 Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • 3-5 years experience as an Executive Assistant or at an administrative level
  • Minimum Associates Degree
  • Knowledge in: Microsoft Work, Excel, Outlook
  • Knowledge in: Accounts Receivable Software

Location:

The position is location-based in or near Asheville, NC. Currently, staff members have the option to work two days per week at home and are required to work three days in the office in Asheville.

Compensation and benefits:

Salary range is $50,000-$60,000 per year based on experience. In addition to salary and Worker’s Compensation Insurance, BPR offers a compensation package that includes the following benefits:
