Active evacuation orders for wildfires: List by county and community

In many areas, residents are urged to be vigilant as fires can spread quickly. Here is a list of places in Western North Carolina where local officials have issued evacuation orders.

Active Evacuation Orders

As of Sunday, March 30, 2025, there are no active mandatory evacuation orders in Western North Carolina. This post will be updated if that changes.

Polk County

All remaining red (mandatory) evacuation notices have been lifted for Polk County as of the evening of Saturday, March 29.

  • Coyote Ridge
  • Sam's Gap Lane
  • 362-4726 Big Hungry Rd.
  • Deer Trl.
  • English Heifer Cove Rd.
  • 5079 - 7265 Holbert Cove Rd.

  • 1091 - 1528 Green River Cove Rd.
  • Lady Slipper Trl.

Note: The evacuation order in the Piney Gate Area has been lifted as of 1 p.m. on March 27.

The evacuation order for these locations has been lifted as of 2 p.m. on March 28:

  • 4727-6144 Big Hungry Rd
  • Spurgeon Cove Ln
  • Scarlets Mountain Rd

The evacuation order for these locations was lifted on March 29:

  • Who Dr. 
  • Glen Echo Cir.
  • Echo Ln.
  • Cozy Cove Ln. 
  • Scout Camp Rd. 
  • 2624-3700 Holbert Cove Rd. 
  • 3509-4523 Green River Rd. 
  • Wilderness Cove Trl. 

Transylvania County

The mandatory evacuation order for these locations has been lifted as of 3:30 p.m. on March 30. However, many of these areas remain under Code Yellow (Get Set) on the Transylvania County evacuation map.

  • South side of East Fork Rd. from Glady Fork Rd. to the East Fork Rd./Greenville Hwy. intersection and along Highway 276-S
  • Big Hill Community including Dolly Masters Road, Glady Fork Rd, Lake Honda and Happy Acres Communities

Buncombe County

The voluntary evacuation order in the Hayes Cove Rd. area has been lifted as of 5:30 p.m. on March 27.

Henderson County

The evacuation orders for the following locations has been downgraded to Level 2 (Get set):

  • Summer Haven Lane
  • Macedonia Road, East of Interstate 26
  • Skyland Acres Road
  • Knight Road
  • S. Fine Way

Rutherford County

The evacuation order in Rutherford County has been lifted as of March 26 at 6 p.m.

Swain County

The evacuation order for these locations was lifted on March 29:

  • Long Creek Lane
  • Unahala Creek
  • Alarka Highlands
