List: Shelters and other resources for wildfire survivors in WNC

For several days, fire crews have battled fires burning across thousands of acres in Western North Carolina. Local leaders have issued mandatory or advisory evacuations for many locations.

For those who need a place to go, this is a list of shelter locations for wildfire evacuees.

Polk County

Columbus - Shelter at Polk County Senior Center, located at 75 Carmel Lane

To support those who have been displaced or need essential facilities, the county is also offering laundry and shower trailers at the shelter location on Saturday, March 29th and Sunday, March 30 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Transylvania County

Brevard - Transylvania County Recreation Center, located at 1078 Ecusta Road

Swain County

Bryson City - Victory Baptist Church, located at 1275 Fontana Road

Rutherford County

Rutherfordton - First Presbyterian Church, located at 252 N. Washington Street

Henderson County

Hendersonville - Parks & Recreation Athletics and Activity Center, located at 708 South Grove Street. This location accepts pets.
