April 30 | Bipartisan Trusted Election Town Hall with BPR's Lilly Knoepp

BPR's Lilly Knoepp will moderate a panel of experts and government leaders as they discuss public concerns around voting in North Carolina and strengthen civil discourse.

On Tuesday, April 30, the North Carolina Network for Fair, Safe and Secure Elections will kick off their Bipartisan Trusted Election Town Hall tour where attendees will hear from cybersecurity experts, election officials, and election law attorneys from both sides of the aisle to answer their questions around the electoral system.

The event will be moderated by BPR's Senior Regional Reporter Lilly Knoepp.

Event details

  • When: Tuesday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: University Center Theater at Western Carolina University (located inside A.K. Hinds University Center at 245 Memorial Dr., Cullowhee)
  • Cost: Free

The town hall will feature conversations about the electoral process, address concerns around the security of elections and vote counting, and build trust in the voting system.

Panel participants include:

  • Attorney Larry Leake,  Madison County, former Chair of the NC State Board of Education 
  • Attorney Kelly Tornow, Jackson County, former Attorney for the NC State Board of Education
  • Election Director Adam Byrnes, Swain County Director of Elections
  • Election Official Scott Konopasek, Retired Election Official, Carter Center
  • Local Board of Election Member Ron Mau
  • Local Board of Election Member Danny Davis

The NC Network for Fair, Safe and Secure Elections is co-chaired by former Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts and former NC Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr.
