How BPR will use the $10,000 grant

If awarded the grant, BPR — one of the top radio stations in the market — will select five BIPOC-owned businesses and makers in our region to receive a "Community and Inclusion Business Spotlight Package" for one month of on air and digital marketing, valued at $2,000 each.

These packages will connect the businesses to BPR's 100,000 listeners across 14 counties and the Qualla Boundary, and they will be featured in BPR's weekly and monthly e-newsletters and social media channels.

This vibrant collaboration will include audio, visual and narrative components to give the opportunity greater impact, and help each business share their story and build valuable brand awareness in Buncombe County and throughout Western North Carolina. Help us help others - vote daily here!

About the Community Better Foundation

In celebration of the Asheville Chamber’s 125th anniversary, the Community Betterment Foundation (501(c)3 charitable arm of the Chamber) plans to award twelve grants to non-profits that support the Chamber in achieving its mission of “Building Community Through Business.” Its goal is 12 $10,000 grants funded by profit from the 125th Anniversary Celebration in September.

One of the guiding principles of the Asheville Chamber is Collaboration. There is strength in numbers and work with strategic partners and member businesses to accomplish its goals. For the Chamber's anniversary, it wants to recognize non-profit organizations that support the Chamber’s strategies and work alongside it to build long-term economic vitality and viability, solving problems to move the community forward.

The Chamber recognizes that the nonprofit finalists have varying resources. In an effort to make the popular vote more equitable, votes will be adjusted to reflect the size of the entity. Final scoring will be based on combination of selection committee scoring (weighted at 51%) and adjusted public voting (weighted at 49%). Grant recipients will be announced at the Chamber's September 28 Anniversary Celebration.
