BPR welcomes Interim GM Mark Vogelzang

Blue Ridge Public Radio has hired veteran public media leader Mark Vogelzang as interim General Manager and CEO.

Vogelzang is serving on a full-time basis while a national search is underway for BPR’S new General Manager and CEO. He succeeds David Feingold, who retired from BPR on December 6.

Vogelzang recently retired as the President & CEO of Maine Public Television & Radio, was the CEO of Vermont Public Radio, and served as the Executive Director of the NPR Foundation.

With more than 25 years of public broadcasting CEO experience, Vogelzang has advised numerous public media nonprofits like BPR on organizational leadership, philanthropic support, and strategic planning.

“I’m honored to work with BPR staff to support both the station’s mission and its relationships with listeners, donors, and organizations across Western North Carolina,” says Vogelzang. “This is an exciting time of expansion and opportunity for BPR News and BPR Classic, and it is clear that NPR News is more important than ever in offering independent journalism to our region and our supporters.”

A board-appointed search committee, led by Livingston & Associates, is completing the final stages of the selection of BPR’s next General Manager & CEO.

Erin Adams served as BPR's first Director of Audience from August 2023 to March 2024.
