Blue Ridge Public Radio’s General Manager and CEO David Feingold recently announced to staff and BPR’s Board of Directors that he plans to retire later this year. BPR’s Board will conduct a search to fill the position, and Feingold plans to remain in the role in the interim.

“My nearly six years at BPR have given me a chance to work with a lot of tremendously talented and dedicated people who share my passion for public radio,” said Feingold. “Together we’ve accomplished a great deal and have made a big difference across the region we serve. It’s truly an optimum time to bring on the next generation of leadership.”

Feingold joined BPR in July 2015 and under his leadership the station rebranded as Blue Ridge Public Radio, launched the BPR Classic and BPR News stations, and expanded its local programming and journalism. He has also served on the Asheville Area Arts Council’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director Roundtable of Leadership Asheville, and the Executive Committee of Eastern Regional Public Media.

Prior to joining BPR, Feingold was assistant General Manager for Content at NET, Nebraska’s statewide educational radio and television service, and worked at CNN as Business News Editor, National Editor, and London Bureau Chief.

A national search will be underway soon for BPR’s new general manager and CEO.

Erin Adams served as BPR's first Director of Audience from August 2023 to March 2024.
