BPR Welcomes New Membership Manager

Blue Ridge Public Radio welcomes Erin Adams as its new Membership Manager. Erin joins a newly expanded development team that reflects the growth of Blue Ridge Public Radio’s two channels of service, BPR News and BPR Classic.

Erin will manage BPR’s annual giving program including on-air campaigns, direct mail, telemarketing, and digital platforms. She has more than fifteen years of nonprofit experience, primarily in the public media sector. While working at NPR in Washington, DC, Erin assisted with NPR Member Partnership’s communications with more than 1,000 public radio stations across the country regarding NPR’s key initiatives, strategies, and content. She particularly enjoyed sharing station success stories in the two weekly e-newsletters she produced, as well as connecting with station staff members on social media and at industry conferences. Prior to NPR she worked in Membership at Nashville Public Radio in Nashville, TN.

BPR’s Director of Development Ashleigh Kenny says, “Erin brings a knowledge of the industry that will take our annual giving to the next level, and better serve our listeners. It’s an exciting time at BPR, and we’re delighted to have Erin on the team as we continue to expand our service to the region.”

Erin is excited about leveraging her background in digital marketing and membership to more deeply engage BPR’s audiences. She says, “l’m joining BPR at a critical time of growth and innovation, and I’m looking forward to connecting our curious and vibrant audience with the station.”

She began listening to The Diane Rehm Show on her father’s car radio in middle school, and has been a sustaining member of public radio stations across the country ever since. Erin is originally from North Carolina and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she majored in Mass Communication.

A brief career in print journalism inspired her appreciation of fact checking, AP Style, and free food. In her free time Erin enjoys hiking with her dog Loretta, digging in the garden, sifting through thrift stores, and eating her way around Western North Carolina.

Please join us in welcoming Erin to the BPR family.

Michelle Keenan is the Associate Director of Development at Blue Ridge Public Radio. She began volunteering for the station in 1996 and has been a full-time staff member since 1998.
