NPR News will be covering the events commemorating the life of Nelson Mandela this week with a team of reporters in South Africa. In depth coverage will begin in Morning Edition on Tuesday with the Memorial Service in Johannesburg that will be attended by President Obama and former Presidents H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.
NPR will cover the event through its newscasts, news magazine shows and online. The schedule of events at this point are as follows:
Tuesday: Memorial service at FNB stadium in Johannesburg.
Wednesday - Friday: Mandela lies in state in Pretoria.
Sunday: Mandela is buried in his ancestral village of Qunu.
