Talent Jam Aims to Connect People in Asheville

An event Monday at ISIS Restaurant and Music Hall in Asheville aims to bring together people with talent and people seeking that talent.  Talent Jam gives participants a chance to make 60 second pitches to either speak for their talent or for the talent they're seeking.  It's like a job fair, but not, explains Daniel Kairoff, creative director for the event.  Kairoff says it's a way to get people connected in a challenging job market.  He stopped by WCQS to talk about the event.

Below is Talent Jam's official press release:

Talent Jam Asheville is returning on Monday, December 5th, 2016 to Isis Restaurant and Music Hall at 743 Haywood Rd in West Asheville.

Founded in 2015 by local, serial entrepreneur and Kauffman Foundation Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Tom Ryan.  The December 5th event will be the third Talent Jam Asheville and is sponsored by McGuire Wood & Bissette and RISC Networks.

"Talent Jam's ability to authentically connect local talent to opportunity in a modern and uniquely Asheville way is resonating at home and abroad," said Ryan. "Talent Jam was born in Asheville so of course, we're most passionate about helping talented folks find meaningful work close to home in our backyard."

Talent Jam has already made a tremendous impact, with 87% of attendees reporting making a meaning connection at Talent Jam and 89% saying they would attend another event.

The uniqueness of the Talent Jam model has caught the attention of several others looking for modern ways to connect talent to opportunity in their markets.  Including the Bank of Ireland, who is sponsoring the first International event in Cork City on November 19, 2016, in conjunction with the Global Startup Gathering and Startup Nations Summit.
