Asheville City Council candidates answer BPR's questions

Campaign signs for Asheville's March 3, 2026 primary elections can be seen everywhere in the city.

On March 3, voters have their last chance to cast their ballot in this year's primary election.

The city of Asheville has perhaps the largest pool of contenders vying for just three seats on the City Council. The 20 candidates have been out in the community talking about how the issues they think are most pressing to the city's well being. The reasons tend to circle around three big issues: housing, affordability and recovery from Hurricane Helene.

Because there are so many candidates running, BPR wanted to give all of them a chance to express their views on just a few subjects. So, we sent a survey to all 20 candidates asking them for their opinions. Ten candidates responded.
