Steve McCreery

Steve brings a diverse blend of broadcasting and academic experience to Blue Ridge Public Radio. He began his radio career in Tampa at 17, before adding both the West Palm Beach and Raleigh markets to his resume. Before calling Asheville home in 2024, Steve spent 10 years helping shape the next generation of broadcasters as a professor of audio and media production at Appalachian State University. He is an alum of both NC State and the University of Georgia.

Steve is excited to bring his passion for public radio to the WNC airwaves. When he is not in the studio, he enjoys taking advantage of everything our local community has to offer, including hiking scenic trails, playing golf, exploring Asheville’s culinary landscape (and breweries), supporting local farmers, and planning his next travel adventure with his partner Danielle and their two dogs, Lucy and George.
