Ian Riddell

Ian Riddell is proud to be a member of the BPR community and an advocate for the power of public radio. Watching the role that radio played in helping WNC get through Hurricane Helene reinforced his belief that public and community radio are a vital voice in every town and city.

Ian grew up in Vermont and moved to Los Angeles after graduating with a BFA from Emerson College. While pursuing his love of music and theater in the big city, and crafting a trade as a math tutor and a teacher, Ian met his wife, Melissa. After they had their son, they moved to Asheville and Ian started Tek-Kids and the Asheville Computer Programming Club to provide free and low-cost educational opportunities to young people in Asheville. Eventually he settled into the role of STEM Facilitator at Carolina Day School. These days, he runs a successful retail and wholesale business with his wife.

Ian has been a volunteer and a DJ/Announcer at WSFM-LP in West Asheville. He, his wife and son and their dog, Marvin, reside in West Asheville where he continues to work daily on refining his technique for brewing the perfect cup of coffee.
