Police: Woman On Racist Tirade Dies After Being Struck By Firetruck

Asheville police have confirmed the death of a woman who’s been in the news recently for going on racist tirades that were widely shared on social media. 

 

On Wed., APD spokeswoman Christina Hallingse confirmed that Rachel Dawn Ruit died on July 14. The department says it’s investigating the incident.

In a press release, the APD says officers responded to a call Monday afternoon near the 800 block of Patton Ave. When they arrived on scene, police say Ruitt in critical condition, after being struck by a Asheville Fire Department truck. 

The APD says Ruit was transported to Mission Hospital but died the following day as a result of her injuries.
