ART Terminal Upgrades Underway

Creative Commons

Upgrades to Asheville’s downtown bus station are slated to begin today.

The City says in a news release that the first phase of the ART terminal renovation involves making improvements to storm water drainage in bus lanes and sidewalks.

The contractor estimates bus riders will be immediately impacted by the construction close to April 22. That’s when buses going northbound will be loaded on Asheland Ave. This phase of the construction is expected to last about three months.

The City says staff will be on site to guide travelers to the temporary loading zone.

The second phase of construction is slated to begin this summer. That includes renovating the passenger waiting area and installing solar panels.

ART is urging passengers to subscribe to its text alert service for notifications about the ongoing projects. More information can be found here.
