Blue Ridge Public Radio and its media partners will hold three candidate forums next week. Both forums will be broadcast live as Facebook Live videos that can be watched on the BPR Facebook page.
Monday October 15th at noon, BPR and the Asheville Citizen-Times will hold a forum with the three candidates running for Buncombe County sheriff - Democrat Quentin Miller, Republican Shad Higgins, and Libertarian Tracey Debruhl. The winner of the November election will take over for Van Duncan, who is retiring after three terms as sheriff.
Tuesday October 16th at 1:30 p.m., BPR and the Asheville Citizen-Times will hold a forum with the two candidates running for the District 3 seat on the Buncombe County board of commissioners - incumbent Republican Robert Pressley and Democrat Donna Ensley.
Wednesday October 17th at noon, BPR and Mountain Xpress will hold a forum with the two candidates running for the open District 2 seat on the Buncombe County board of commissioners - Democrat Amanda Edwards and Republican Glenda Weinert. The winner of the November election will take over for Ellen Frost, who declined to seek re-election.
The deadline to register to vote in North Carolina for Election Day is Friday October 12th. Those who have not registered by the deadline can still do so during the early voting period, which runs from October 17th to November 3rd. Those who have not registered by the deadline however will not be able to vote on Election Day which is Tuesday November 6th.
