Asheville & Buncombe County 'Code Purple' For Homeless This Weekend

City of Asheville

Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing Saturday & Sunday night in Asheville and Buncombe County.  Therefore, a 'Code Purple' has been declared for homeless shelters this weekend.  Shelters will be open to the homeless during the day and other times when they would typically be closed.   Shelters offering 'Code Purple' services include  -

A-Hope Day Center

Open Monday through Friday 7 am-noon, and Saturday through Sunday 8 am-noon.

ABCCM Veteran’s Quarters

Men only seeking shelter can access the Veteran’s Quarters emergency shelter starting at 4 p.m. The shelter will accommodate additional homeless individuals in a separate classroom building.

Salvation Army

People can come to the agency for overnight emergency shelter services starting at 8 p.m. The Salvation Army will offer overflow spaces through the use of cots, mats, and blankets.
