WCQS Taps Award-Winning Reporter and Anchor Matt Bush to Lead News Department

Matt Bush will lead WCQS’ news department as its next News Director. WCQS General Manager David Feingold said the timing couldn’t be better, “Matt joins us at a very exciting time. We’re launching a second broadcast service with an all-news format and we’re expanding our local news department. He’s an accomplished journalist with great curiosity and story-telling skills. Matt is prepared to take our news department to the next level.”

Bush is an award-winning reporter and radio news anchor. For the past eight years, he worked at WAMU, Washington DC’s NPR station, where he served as Maryland reporter primarily focused on politics, government, transportation, and the environment.

At WAMU, Bush reported for NPR’s All Things Considered and Here & Now, and served as a guest analyst on Maryland politics for the daily Kojo Nnamdi Show. He also had several roles in the WAMU newsroom, where he edited news and anchored major news programs.

Earlier in his career, Bush served at the Pittsburgh, PA bureau chief for Metro Networks and was on the staff of WMAL radio in Washington, DC.

In May, he completed his Masters degree in media entrepreneurship from American University in Washington. His undergraduate degree is in broadcasting from Point Park College in Pittsburgh, the city where he was born and raised.
