North Carolina's March primary election is about seven weeks away. While much of the press attention has been focused on the Democratic and Republican Party Presidential races, North Carolina voters will also consider a $2 Billion Bond Proposal. If passed, the money would be invested in education, parks, safety, recreation, and water and sewer infrastructure. Projects in 79 of the states 100 counties would be funded.
David Hurand sat down with Western Carolina University Chancellor David Belcher, UNC Asheville Chancellor Mary Grant, and Dennis King, President of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College for a look at what's in the proposal for their institutions. All said they are optimistic North Carolina voters will support the issuing of the bonds and stressed the proposal doesn't include any new taxes.
