Amid chants and jeers, Rep. Chuck Edwards spoke at a town hall in Asheville on Thursday evening.
The event took place at the Ferguson Auditorium on Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College's campus.
Several hundred attendees lined up outside the venue in the late afternoon. Hundreds of protestors carried signs outside the auditorium, chanting in opposition to several Trump administration policies.

"Being accessible, listening, and answering questions for the people of WNC are among my favorite activities, even if we might not always agree," Edwards said in a press release last week.
Edwards opted to proceed with the event despute reported warnings from GOP leadership to move in-person events to virtual forums.
