While electricity has been restored broadly in Western North Carolina, there continue to be outages in many places and there's widespread destruction after the flooding and landslides unleashed by Hurricane Helene in late September.
Here's a list of resources for households that have no heat source or those struggling with supplies for cold weather.
In Asheville/Buncombe County

Shelters are open and space is available.

Eblen Charities - Winter Clothing Distribution
The group has warm winter clothing to distribute and other essentials (like hygiene and cleaning supplies, menstrual products, diapers, and more). They continue to help people with food, rent and mortgage assistance, medical needs, and gasoline vouchers.
Distribution takes place Monday through Friday starting at 9 a.m., at 23 Hamilton Street, Asheville, as part of Eblen's new "free store."
A large event to pass out free blankets and winter clothing will take place on Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. Available sizes: infant up to 3x large.
In November, the charity will provide information to local residents on receiving help with Thanksgiving meals and Christmas items for children.

Goodwill Donation Centers are providing vouchers for clothing for those in need.
In McDowell County
Centro Unido Latino Americano - Clothing, Food, and Supplies
The group is open daily, usually from 12 to 3 p.m., at 79 Academy St., Marion.

In Henderson County
Temporary Resource Hub - Flat Rock
Drive-thru service for supply needs, located at 118 McAbee Court, Flat Rock. Directions: Warehouse is off McMurray Road - Exit 53/Upward Road, from Interstate 26).
Interfaith Assistance Ministries - Hendersonville
The group has food, clothing, and other supplies.
Available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Madison County
Rural Organizing And Resilience - Marshall
The group has a mutual aid hub and is distributing supplies, including an upcoming free firewood station. The hub is open to make distributions from 2 to 6 p.m. daily.
