New Translator at 99.3 FM Improves Service to Henderson County

WCQS can now be heard in Henderson County on 99.3 FM. The new frequency is expected to improve service and expand the WCQS signal to parts of Henderson County previously unserved.

The launch of 99.3 FM brings a ten year process to fruition. Western North Carolina Public Radio Interim President and CEO, Barbara Sayer says, “We’ve known for many years that our coverage in Henderson County was not adequate. More than a decade ago we applied to the FCC for additional coverage. We are delighted that we’ve finally received approval from the Commission and that we’ve been able to install a translator. The WCQS Board of Directors and the WCQS staff look forward to not only serving Henderson County, but to sharing the stories of residents here with our listeners across Western North Carolina.”

The WCQS Hendersonville translator is located off of Hwy 191 between Hendersonville and Balfour. Listeners who have questions or reports about the signal can contact us at tech@wcqs.org.

Michelle Keenan was the Associate Director of Development at Blue Ridge Public Radio. She began volunteering for the station in 1996 and has been a full-time staff member since 1998.
