Steve Inskeep Receives a Warm Welcome in WNC

Public radio fans in Western North Carolina gave Morning Edition host Steve Inskeep a warm welcome recently. Inskeep, who was in Cherokee and Asheville as part of his book tour for Jacksonland, spoke at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian and at Malaprops. He also, very graciously, made time for WCQS at a private luncheon.

The luncheon started off on the sunny rooftop patio at the Social Lounge and Tapas (part of Strada Itliano) with a crowd of about 40 guests. After opening remarks and lunch a downpour drove everyone inside for Q&A and a book signing. A little rain couldn't dampen the spirits of our intrepid guest of honor or our enthusiastic listeners.

Our thanks to Chef Anthony Cerrato and his wonderful team at Strada. Thanks also to Malaprops for being on hand to sell copies of Jacksonland. And last but not least our thanks to Steve Inskeep for sharing a wonderful perspective on an untold chapter of history and for sharing his time with us.

Whether you attended the WCQS luncheon, the Malaprop's book signing or the book signing at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, we'd love to see your pictures! Send your snaps to membership@wcqs.org with INSKEEP in the subject line and we'll be happy to share them here.
