Tony Kiss Weekend Update: 8/28 - 8/30

Tony Kiss
Asheville Citizen-Times

Music, dance, baseball, theater, movies, and everything organic are among the offerings this weekend.  Shindig on the Green takes place Saturday night (8/29) in downtown Asheville at  Pack Square Park's Roger McGuire Green.  Musicians and dancers  perform on the stage named for the founder of the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival, Bascom Lamar Lunsford. Its the next to the last weekend for Shindig.   If you are up for some late season baseball,  the Asheville Tourists are in town to take on visitors from Savannah.  The 14th annualOrganicfest Celebration will take place Sunday (8/30) at Pack Square in downtown Asheville.

The stage drama "Red" will be performed at the Parkway Playhouse in Burnsville.  "Not Now, Darling continues its run at Asheville Community Theater and the Magnetic Theater presents, "The Jacob Higginbotham Show".   Those are just a few of the live theater offerings. On the big screen, "Diary of a Teenage Girl" and "Best of Enemies" have arrived.   "Best of Enemies" is a documentary about the series of TV debates that were waged between conservative William F. Buckley and liberal Gore Vidal.  Tony Kiss takes a look at some of what's going on in Western North Carolina.
