Unaffiliated
Where are you from?
Originally Old Fort, NC
What is your top priority if elected?
My priorities are top pay for employees of the Town while maintaining fiduciary responsibility. This means no new taxes while investigating new ways to raise revenue for Montreat. Basic services such as sanitation, sewer and refuse collection/disposal, water distribution, street maintenance, construction, and right-of-way acquisition or relinquishment. I would be known as the commissioner who communicates as I intend to find out what voters, tax payers, and other entities distinct to Montreat think before making recommendations or decisions.
What three words would you use to describe your political values?
Progressive, conservative and fair.
What do you wish the community knew about this office?
I wish the community at large was aware of the unique challenges facing the Town. It is a challenging environment to effect change due to the many competing entities for a very limited amount of land that can be developed.
What is one thing that you want to say to voters?
I have been in Montreat since 1984 intimately involved with its citizens, the college as an alumnus, the Montreat Retreat Association as a provider of housing for summer groups, and as a cottager. I have a broad spectrum from which to vet ideas and problem solve for challenges that have been around for decades such as the rise in bear encounters the last 20 years.
