Zeb Camp was studying Appalachian history and Southern literature four years ago, at UNC-Asheville, when he began writing lyrics for the Asheville band Bask.

While folk, bluegrass and the iconic singer-songwriter are the soul of our regional music scene, guitar-driven heavy music is emerging here, and Bask is at the forefront. The music is soaked in heavy guitars, but the tone and lyrical sentiments are baked in this part of the south.

The Asheville Moth StorySLAM series will continue in 2018. The StorySLAM is a monthly competition, where the stage is open to any and all with a story to tell on the evening's theme. The SLAMs are production of The Moth. The schedule and themes [as posted] are listed below.

The next Moth StorySLAM happens Thursday, October 15 at The Mothlight at Mr. Fred's in West Asheville. Tickets go on sale Oct. 8 at 3 pm. The Moth StorySLAMs are monthly storytelling competitions where the stage is open to any and all with a story to tell on the evening's theme. This month's theme is 'Home'.

WCQS is thrilled to welcome The Moth to Asheville. The Moth is an acclaimed not-for-profit organization dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. It is a celebration of both the raconteur, who breathes fire into true tales of ordinary life, and the storytelling novice, who has lived through something extraordinary and yearns to share it.
