Tricia Cotham of Mecklenburg County both won their elections in November. Ross is now a commerce chairman, while Cotham will help lead the K-12 education committee. Cotham is one of a few Democrats who received top committee positions in a chamber where Republicans hold 71 of the 120 seats. Democratic Rep. Michael Wray of Northampton County is now one of four finance committee senior chairmen.
